New Hammock design

We designed and created our hammock style hat for ladies with long, thick hair who struggled to get all their hair into an elastic back hat comfortably and for those who have sore heads from wearing their hair up tightly all day long.

Tight hair styles

Operating theatre staff who regularly wear their hair pulled back tightly or in styles that place significant tension on the hair are at risk of traction alopecia which is commonly associated with certain hairstyles that place continuous tension on the hair, such as tight ponytails, braids, or hair weaves. 

Staff with these hair styles who work in operating theatre departments need to wear their hair up in theatre hats for up to 8 hours per day, some need to do this for up to 12 hours per day!  The impact of doing this regularly along with traction alopecia can also cause split ends and headaches.

Traction alopecia is a form of hair loss that occurs when hair is pulled tightly for a prolonged period, causing damage to the hair follicles.

To address this issue, we have carefully designed our ‘Hammock hat’ which gently cradles the hair in a hammock style pouch, downwards with gravity so there is minimal pulling on the hair.  We believe that this is a suitable alternative to regular style theatre hats and enables better hair care practices that balance hygiene and safety requirements with the maintenance of healthy hair.
